Welcome to Introduction to Accounting, a comprehensive journey into the core principles and policies shaping the accounting landscape. This course is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in accounting, equipping you with the knowledge to understand and analyse financial information.

In the first section, you’ll explore the essence of financial accounting, delving into the double entry system and fundamental accounting rules. We’ll walk you through the financial accounting process and how financial statements are generated, including an in-depth look at the basic accounting equation and the four key financial statements. You’ll also learn how to define and classify accounts through a chart of accounts, and differentiate between external and internal transactions. A short exercise will reinforce your understanding.

In the second section, we focus on accounting policies. You’ll uncover the major accounting policies that companies must decide upon, including depreciation policies and the control of operational fixed assets. We will examine inventory accounting and controls, along with revenue accounting and expense accounting. Lastly, we’ll discuss working capital management.

By the end of this course, you will have a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts and policies in accounting, enabling you to navigate the financial aspects of any organisation.

Method of Assessment

To assess your learning, you have to complete the assignment questions provided at the end of the course. You have to score at least 60% to pass the exam and to qualify for Quality Licence Scheme endorsed, and CPD accredited certificates. 

After submitting the assignment, our expert tutor will assess your assignment and will give you feedback on your performance.

After passing the assignment exam, you will be able to apply for a certificate.
